Becoming a Board Member

School board candidates should be committed to public education and the advancement of the school district. Responsibilities of school board members include:

  • Creating a shared vision for the future of education at HCSD
  • Setting the direction of the school district to achieve high student performance
  • Creating strategic partnerships with community stakeholders
  • Budget development and adoption
  • Policy development and adoption

Nominating Petitions

Nominating petitions are available for anyone interested in serving the district as a school board member. To get a nominating petition, please contact the District Clerk by email at districtclerk@hudsoncsd.org or call 518-828-4360 ext. 2101.

Prospective nominees must have a primary residence in the Hudson City School District and be registered voters.

Prospective school board candidates must obtain at least 100 signatures on the nominating petition (supporters who sign the petition must also be residents in the school district).

Completed nominating petitions are due to the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
