Becoming a Board Member

Here is what you should know about being a Board of Education member:

School board candidates should be committed to public education and the advancement of the school district. Responsibilities of school board members include:

  • Creating a shared vision for the future of education at HCSD
  • Setting the direction of the school district to achieve high student performance
  • Creating strategic partnerships with community stakeholders
  • Budget development and adoption
  • Policy development and adoption

Prospective nominees must have a primary residence in the Hudson City School District and be registered voters.

Interested candidates are encouraged to attend upcoming Board meetings to see the process (click here for the 2019-20 meeting schedule).

Nominating Petitions

Nominating petitions are available for anyone interested in serving the district as a school board member. To get a nominating petition, please contact Leslie Coons, Clerk of the Board, at 518-828-4360 ext. 2100, or by email at districtclerk@hudsoncsd.org. Completed nominating petitions are due back to the board clerk in the District Office by Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 4 p.m.

BOE elections will take place with the annual school budget vote on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, from 12 noon – 9 p.m.
