Becoming a Board Member

Here is what you should know about being a Board of Education member:

School board candidates should be committed to public education and the advancement of the school district. Responsibilities of school board members include:

  • Creating a shared vision for the future of education at HCSD
  • Setting the direction of the school district to achieve high student performance
  • Creating strategic partnerships with community stakeholders
  • Budget development and adoption
  • Policy development and adoption

Prospective nominees must have a primary residence in the Hudson City School District and be registered voters.

Nominating Petitions

Completed nominating petitions are due May 11, 2020 by 5 p.m. Click here for more information. Following an Executive Order from Governor Cuomo, school elections have been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

Nominating petitions are available for anyone interested in serving the district as a school board member. To get a nominating petition, please contact Leslie Coons, Clerk of the Board, at 518-828-4360 ext. 2100, or by email at coonsl@hudsoncsd.org.
