There are many ways to stay informed about things happening in the Hudson City School District. You can read our website, visit our Facebook page, sign up for the Hudson Highlights E-News, receive updates by phone calls, email, and even receive updates by text message. Please feel free to use as many or as few options as you’d like.
There are several potential reasons you may receive calls and messages from the school, including:
- Emergency delays and closings (such as weather closures)
- Reminders of important dates and events
- Early dismissals
- Unexcused absences
- Suspicious individuals or activities on or near school grounds
The following alerts are often restricted to parents, guardians and approved contacts who have their contact information entered in eSchool (the district’s student information management system). Scroll to the bottom of the page for information about community alerts through Code Red for Columbia County.
Get timely phone call notifications on your home phone and/or cell phone.
(Note: You will automatically receive phone alerts if your phone number is entered in eSchool. If you are unsure, contact the school guidance office to see if your current phone number(s) are updated in eSchool.)
Text Message Alerts
Get timely notifications by text messages on your cell phone.
(Note: You will automatically be signed up to receive text notifications if you provided a cell phone number to the school at the beginning of the school year. Read more about schools and automated messages here. If you do not want to receive text alerts, read about opting out at the bottom of this page.)
Get updates by email on your computer, cell phone or tablet.
(Note: If your email contact information is already in eSchool, you will automatically be signed up for email alerts and no action is required. If you are unsure, contact the school guidance office to see if your email address is entered in eSchool.)
Note: In order to receive the above notifications, your contact information must be entered in eSchool (the district’s student information management system). This is often restricted to parents, guardians and approved contacts. Contact the appropriate school’s guidance office to check or update your contact information.
Get our website announcements and more in your Facebook news feed by following the Hudson City School District Facebook page. We usually post news and updates a few times a week. If you use Facebook regularly, this may be the easiest way to know what is going on in the district. You can even change your Facebook settings to notify you every time something is posted on our Facebook page.
(Note: This method may not be as quick as the others. For weather-related closings, we recommend using phone, text or email alerts instead, or checking local news websites such as WTEN or WNYT.)

How to Stop Getting Notifications
To stop receiving phone call notifications, follow the directions at the end of the phone message.
To stop receiving text message notifications, you can:
- Respond to a text message you received from the school with “STOP” (without quotation marks)
- Text “STOP HUDCSD” (without quotation marks) to 23177
- If you wish to re-subscribe at any time, simply text the words “Subscribe HUDCSD” to 23177 (without quotation marks)
To stop receiving email notifications, follow the “unsubscribe” directions at the bottom of the message.
Sign Up for Community Notifications
Sign up to receive community notifications through Code Red for Columbia County. This service will send you notifications from local emergency response teams in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing child reports.
