Many organizations, school districts, educators and parents have publicly expressed concern about the bullying of children. Each day an estimated 160,000 children refuse to go to school because they dread the physical and verbal aggression of their peers. Furthermore, the loneliness that comes from being excluded and made the target of rumors, cyber-bullying, etc., causes many more students to attend school in a state of anxiety. We must safeguard our school and our community for our children through our recognition of the serious issues they face each day and offer them an environment that holds promise and security.
