Lisa McGovern, Hudson City School District Food Services Director, visited Mrs. Nowak’s Introduction to Agriculture class at Hudson Senior High School on March 25, 2024 to harvest basil!
The basil is grown in hydroponic grow towers. Students are responsible for caring for all of the plants in the classroom. The classroom also has a compost tower with 200 Red Wiggler worms. The students will soon have more herbs and vegetables to share with the school cafeteria. This is a great example of a working urban sustainable garden. Mrs. Nowak is so proud of all her students!
The harvested basil was used by the Food Services staff to make a Margarita Pizza for Hudson Senior High School students on March 28, 2024.
