The Hudson City School District firmly believes that scholastic sports are a valuable component of students’ educational experience. The District’s leadership continues to explore options for the football program, which had to cease its varsity seasons prematurely the last two years because it could not sustain the minimal number of required players. Merging the football program with another school district has been considered. The Chatham Central School District, which expressed interest in a merger, has withdrawn from those discussions for this season, but is interested in considering future merger options. The Hudson Board of Education, which had approved a football merger with Chatham, continues to thoughtfully consider next steps. These already have included surveys of the community and current football players to collect insights. The community will be updated as developments occur.
