Dear Parents/Guardians,

If your child has an existing medical condition that mimics some or all symptoms of COVID-19, we encourage you to submit written medical documentation of the existing condition to the Health Office before the start of the 2021-22 school year. At this time, the District is required to send students home if they report any symptoms of COVID-19 (which may or may not be related to the virus). If we have a medical note on file, we will not need to send children home for quarantines or unnecessary testing. As a reminder, COVID-19 symptoms that may also present in other medical conditions include: cough, runny nose, congestion, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of smell or taste, body aches, fatigue, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and/or sore throat.

If your child has an illness or medical condition that is not virus-related and manifests as one of the above symptoms (such as allergies, frequent headaches, etc.), please provide the Health Office with a medical note stating the diagnosis and the symptom(s). Having medical documentation may help the school nurses rule out the likelihood of COVID infection and keep them in school since the symptom(s) could be attributed to an established pre-existing diagnosis. You may have your healthcare provider fax the note directly to the school nurses at:

  • Hudson Junior High School: 518-697-8791
  • Hudson Senior High School: 518-697-8798

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Sincerely,
HCSD Health Offices
