Swimming Pool – General Information

The Hudson High School Pool, located in the Hudson Senior High School, is a 6 lane 25 yard pool. The pool is heated and is usually at a normal temperature of anywhere between 78 and 84 degrees.

Locker rooms are available for changing purposes only. Lockers are not to be used by members using the pool as they are for students only. Showers are also provided inside of the locker rooms which members are welcome to use before and after using the pool.

In addition to the regularly scheduled Lap Swim and Water Aerobics, the pool is also available for party rentals, and rentals for programs such as scuba diving or canoeing for advanced education and public safety purposes. 

The Hudson High School Pool also regularly hosts Parent / Infant Swim Lessons as well as Swim Lessons for children and Lifeguard Training Classes.  Information for these programs can be found in their respective tabs to the right. Classes are usually once or twice a year and last upwards of 10 weeks long.

The Hudson High School Pool will be closed on certain holidays. These are posted with the monthly calendar and are also posted on the District Calendar as well. You can see the district calendar here for more information. 

On days of home swim meets, basketball games, and volleyball matches, the pool will be closed. Check the Athletic Calendar for Swim Meets, Basketball Games, and Volleyball Matches. These dates will already be closed out on the monthly calendar as well. 

Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult during open swimming sessions.

Water Safety & Drowning Prevention

The Hudson City School District is committed to helping students and families stay safe in and around water. In accordance with New York State Education Law §926, the District provides information on water safety, drowning prevention, and safe and healthy swimming.

Whether enjoying a pool, lake, river, beach, or other body of water, families are encouraged to follow these important safety practices:

  • Always closely supervise children when they are in or near water.
  • Ensure children learn basic swimming and water safety skills.
  • Wear a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when boating or participating in water activities where appropriate.
  • Choose bright-colored swimwear to improve visibility in the water.
  • Follow all posted rules and instructions at pools, beaches, and waterfronts.
  • Never swim alone.
  • Consider medical conditions, such as seizure disorders or heart conditions, that may increase water safety risks.
  • Stay out of the water during storms or lightning.
  • Teach children to avoid unsafe or unsupervised bodies of water.
  • Be prepared for emergencies and know how to call 911.

Families are encouraged to review the New York State Department of Health’s Safe Swimming Tips for Everyone and other water safety resources for additional guidance on drowning prevention and safe, healthy swimming.

The Hudson City School District provides this information annually to families and to newly enrolled students and families, as required by New York State Education Law §926.
