This exciting, week-long STEM summer camp program offers children the opportunity to explore robots, design inventions, take apart machines, make new friends while solving challenges and more! It is open to students entering Grades K-6 who are interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
Camp Invention allows children to experience real-world problem solving, creative thinking, invention, and teamwork while rotating through several fascinating modules inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Children will engage in activities that explore connections between science, technology, engineering, and innovation while sharpening their 21st century learning skills. All activities give participants the opportunity to explore, discover, and achieve while having fun!
2027 Camp Invention – Program Information
Montgomery C. Smith Elementary School is hosting Camp Invention: Gear-Up in the summer of 2027. The program is open to students entering grades K-6. There will be leader-in-training spots for students entering grades 7-9.
WHERE: M.C. Smith Elementary School, 102 Harry Howard Ave, Hudson, NY 12534 (transportation is not provided)
WHEN: June 28, 2027 through July 2, 2027 from 9:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
WHO: Students entering Grades K-6. Registration is open to children residing within the Hudson City School District, homeschooled students, and children in neighboring school districts.
COST:
- Price per camper: $315*
- Price per leader-in-training: $215*

Educators from M.C. Smith Elementary School will lead the week of fun, hands-on STEM activities that encourage children to think big, explore their curiosity, and never give up! Secondary students may serve as Leaders-In-Training.
Exciting news for this location: For a more convenient program schedule, add our Before and After Care option to your cart at registration. Before and After Care hours are from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM for an additional $100 per week.

Gadget Garage
Campers gear up to invent as they explore the inner workings of gadgets and excavate a useful gearbox. From taking apart a wind-up robot to repurposing its parts for fresh creations, children design their very own Etch-n-Glow Wand™ — a dazzling gadget that lights up and spins!
Ooze and Aahs
Children uncover ooey-gooey chemistry concepts as they investigate nature’s tiniest organisms. Wading into the wonders of a freshwater pond, campers explore slimy substances, create a device to protect aquatic wildlife and invent a nature-inspired solution to control a new invasive species.
New Heights
Children take on the ultimate engineering challenge as they design and build towering superstructures inspired by cutting-edge architecture and materials technologies. After they construct, test and modify their sustainable masterpiece, campers deliver a winning elevator pitch to investors.
Stuck!
Campers step into the role of entrepreneurs as they design an exclusive new product. As they compete in a prototyping challenge, earn Scrappy Bucks and explore every phase of product development, children visit the Sticky Situation Station for a spark of inspiration to keep their ideas flowing.
