Executive Director of Teaching & Learning – Dr. Elsa Kortright-Torres
Dr. Elsa Kortright-Torres is the Hudson City School District’s Executive Director of Teaching and Learning. Dr. Kortright-Torres oversees three vital areas: the curriculum being taught; teaching methods and practices; and assessments.
Her extensive experience includes the following: a bilingual teacher, assistant principal, and a District English as a Second Language and Spanish instructor at the Tarrytown School District, an assistant principal and principal at the Newburgh School District, a principal at Elmsford schools, an interim assistant superintendent for instruction in Dutchess County’s Pawling school district, an assistant principal in Hillsborough schools, and an assistant superintendent.
Dr. Kortright-Torres earned her Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership with Distinction in December 2022 from Northcentral University in San Diego. Her advanced graduate study in District/School Administration at Mercy College in Yorktown Heights also earned distinction. She received her master’s degree in Bilingual Education from Hunter College of the City University of New York in New York City, where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology/elementary education, as well as her permanent certifications in School Building/District Administration and Elementary Education and Bilingual Extension.

Academic Intervention Services (AIS)
Due to significant changes in standards from prior years, Academic Intervention Services (AIS) are required for all students who score below proficient (Levels 1 or 2) on New York State English/Language Arts and Math assessments.
