HUDSON, N.Y. — Hudson High School’s Kindness Club has received a $5,000 donation from the Abatecola Foundation to support an educational trip to New York City for 12 students.

The grant will cover transportation, tickets to Broadway’s Aladdin and dinner at Dave & Buster’s.

“This trip gives our students the opportunity to take the skills they practice every day in the classroom and apply them in a real-world setting,” said Lisa Foronda Schmitt, Kindness Club advisor and Life Skills teacher, who is in her 24th year with the district. “They are not simply funding a trip—they are helping our students experience a whole new world of opportunities.”

Kindness Club is part of the school’s Life Skills Program. Through hands-on activities, internships, and travel training, the program helps students build functional academic, social, vocational, and independent-living skills.
