September’s Harvest of the Month food item was corn. Harvest of the Month promotes locally grown and fresh food items every month. The Food Service team and some classrooms, including the Food and Nutrition class, prepared and engaged in educational, tasty, and fun experiences.
Fresh, locally grown roasted corn on the cob from Florida, New York was served district-wide on Wednesday, September 18. The corn was served in the husk so students could get the “husking experience”.
In the Food and Nutrition class, students had the opportunity to take a “virtual” field trip to a corn farm, study the anatomy of corn, prepare corn on the cob and Mexican Street Corn, and cook homemade kettle corn.
