Announces 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Press Release 2023 Hudson SHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian

HUDSON, NY — Hudson Senior High School is pleased to announce the Class of 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian! Mr. Derek Reardon, the school principal, along with school counselors, Jeanine Patsko and Rocky Payne, proudly reveal that Amirul Faysal has achieved the Valedictorian position, while Aliyah Camacho has attained the Salutatorian title.

Faysal has achieved an impressive 98.7% overall average while studying a range of challenging courses, including Living Environment Honors, AP Environmental Science, AP United States History, and college courses in various subjects such as Pre-Calculus, Composition, Literature, General Psychology and more. He has also received the Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar distinction and has consistently maintained a position on the High Honor Roll throughout his time at Hudson High School. Faysal was also awarded the Scholarship for Academic Excellence and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Faysal is not only an exceptional scholar, but also an active participant in extracurricular activities. He has served as an officer in the Environmental Club, competed in Brain Bee and participated in Multicultural Club, Marching Band and Envirothon. He has also served on the Student Council, contributed many hours to community service, and maintained a job at ShopRite as a Front-End Attendant/Clerk. Furthermore, Faysal is skilled in Spanish and Bangla and proficient in handling money.

Faysal has applied to various prestigious institutions, such as Brown University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology and SUNY Binghamton, but has not yet made his final decision. He plans to study Biochemistry during the upcoming fall semester.

Meanwhile, Camacho has also demonstrated exceptional academic performance, earning a 97.3% overall GPA. She has completed several challenging courses, including Honors Living Environment, AP Biology and AP History 10, among others. Camacho has also taken college courses in College Algebra, Composition, Literature, General Psychology, Introduction to Sociology and Critical Issues Health.

Camacho is a dedicated student athlete who has received the Scholar Athlete Award and the Bluehawk Award for Volleyball and Softball. She also participated in SPARCnet (Salamander population & Adaptation Research Collaboration Network) Research Project with the Columbia Land Conservancy studying how salamanders respond to changes in environmental conditions. 

She has been accepted to Northeast Maritime Institute: College of Maritime Science and will pursue her Associates Degree in Applied Science in Nautical Science. 

Overall, both Faysal and Camacho have demonstrated their academic excellence and impressive involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, and athletics. The Hudson High School community is proud of their outstanding achievements and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
