Mrs. Lisa Schmitt was named the 2022 Hudson High School Teacher of the Year by the HHS Student Council.

There are many reasons the students presented this award to Mrs. Schmitt, including the value she places on real-word experiences and the importance of kindness to our entire school community. Additionally, Mrs. Schmitt goes above and beyond to support all students whenever she can. She runs the school store, helps collect clothing and hygiene items for the Kindness Closet, and often donates money raised by the Kindness Club to support school events and initiatives. This year, Mrs. Schmitt and the Kindness Club donated funds to provide prizes at the International Festival, cover dodgeball tournament entry fees, and pay more than $500 for students’ senior dues (which go toward things like yearbooks and other senior purchases).

The Student Council presented a plaque to Mrs. Schmitt inscribed with the following:

In honor of your dedication to the inclusivity of our community, the success of all students, and your drive to provide opportunities for all. Thank you for always going above and beyond to spread kindness throughout our school. “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see.” — Mark Twain

Congratulations to Mrs. Schmitt on this highly deserved recognition!
