Dear Parents/Guardians:

The District was informed that two high school students tested positive for COVID-19. The students were last on campus on May 3rd. We have been in contact with the Columbia County Department of Health and contact tracing for this case has been completed. All individuals who are required to quarantine were notified. If you were not contacted by a representative of the school district or DOH, there is no further action needed.

Please be assured that schools and buses are thoroughly cleaned regularly and the in-person learning environment remains safe for students and staff.

Even if you are vaccinated, we urge families to stay diligent about the health and safety protocols including wearing masks or face coverings, practicing social distancing, washing your hands, avoiding gatherings and unnecessary travel, and staying home if you/your child are unwell or awaiting test results. If you have questions or need to report a COVID-19 related health issue, please contact your child’s principal or school nurse.

Your continued understanding and cooperation in the interest of everyone’s health and safety are greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

April Prestipino, EdD
Assistant Superintendent for School Improvement
