Dear Parents/Guardians:

The District was informed that an elementary student tested positive for COVID-19. The last date the student was present in school is December 10th.

We worked with the Columbia County Department of Health to complete contact tracing and notify any students or staff who need to quarantine as a precaution. If you were not contacted by a representative of the District or DOH, there is no further action needed on your part.

We ask that families continue to follow all safety guidelines outside of school, including proper use of face coverings, social distancing and proper hand hygiene, as well as avoiding travel outside of New York State and indoor gatherings where masks are not worn.

With the holiday recess approaching, we strongly encourage families to use their best judgement when making plans to celebrate. At this time, the recommended number of individuals in a private residence is 10 or fewer, and masks are strongly recommended indoors at all times except when eating or drinking. Additionally, travel outside of NYS is highly discouraged. Please review these state travel restrictions and notify the district if your child travels out of the state over break. As always, the safest way to celebrate is at home with your immediate family.

Thank you for your continuing efforts to keep our school community safe and buildings open for students and staff.

Sincerely,

Dr. Maria Lagana Suttmeier, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
