Dear HCSD Parents/Guardians:

At yesterday’s press conference Governor Cuomo officially announced that schools may reopen in every region of NYS based on the current low rate of infection (1%). He further announced that in addition to the comprehensive reopening plan submitted and posted to district websites recently, we must also:

  1. Post the following plans separately on our website by August 14:
    • Remote Learning Plan – describing how the district will address the issue of equity if
      offering remote learning.
    • COVID-19 Testing Plan – describing how individuals will be tested if COVID-19 symptoms present
      themselves, who will conduct the testing, etc.
    • Contact Tracing Plan – describing how the district will trace who may need to quarantine if
      positive case, etc.
  2. Conduct discussion sessions by August 21 as follows:
    • Three Q&A sessions with families
    • One Q&A session with teachers/staff

HCSD will host the Q&A sessions* as follows:

  • Teachers/Staff – Tuesday, August 11 from 4-5:30 p.m.

*In an effort to be as efficient as possible, all questions should be submitted to reopeningquestions@hudsoncsd.org prior to the Q&A session dates. Please specify the school building in the subject line (MCSES, JHS, HHS). Questions submitted will be answered during each school’s session and included in the FAQ document located on our website. You may also continue to send questions to reopeningquestions@hudsoncsd.org after the sessions are completed and we will respond accordingly.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend the Q&A session specific to their child’s school building. If, however, any parent or other interested participant is unable to join a designated session they are welcome to attend another (except for the Teacher/Staff session). It is important to note that all frequently asked questions submitted in advance, both building and grade specific, as well as the more generic questions that apply to students from Pre-K to 12 will be answered and posted on our FAQ page so that everyone has an opportunity to be aware of the universal concerns and plans of how they will be addressed.
