Sixth graders in Mrs. Burt’s STEAM class recently designed their dream bedrooms and liked it so much they asked to design a living room too.

Based on specified engineering design constraints, students designed their floor plans using geometric shapes, units of measure, and calculated area.

They also went “shopping” for paint, flooring, furniture, and decor and practiced multiplying, adding, and subtracting with decimals to keep track of their budgets.
