Dear Bluehawk Families,

Today, Governor Cuomo announced that all school districts in New York state will remain closed for an additional two weeks, until April 15, to help protect the public against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

That date falls in the middle of our spring recess. We, along with many school districts in our region that face a similar situation, will look into what this means for our school. We will update our community as soon as we have more information.

We know there will be many questions about what this extension means for the remainder of the school year. Our administrative team works each day on these questions and we have provided some FAQs on our website, which will be updated as more information is received. We ask for our families’ patience in these unprecedented times.

I am incredibly proud of our teachers, staff, students and parents who have done such an amazing job working together to keep educating our community’s children while school is closed. I hope our community stays healthy and safe and I urge everyone to please follow recommendations from New York State to help ensure we all get past this pandemic as soon and as safely as possible.

Sincerely,

Dr. Maria Lagana Suttmeier
Superintendent of Schools
