Here are a few things to help you get to know Ms. Goff:

What is your role here at the Hudson City School District, and where do you work?
I work at Montgomery C. Smith Elementary School and Hudson High School as a Speech Language Pathologist.

What does your job entail? What are your job responsibilities/priorities?
I provide speech and language therapy and evaluations for elementary and high school students. This involves determining student strengths and needs regarding their speech and language skills and helping them meet their academic goals.

Speech language therapy encompasses work on articulation (i.e., producing speech sounds accurately), reducing dysfluency (i.e., stuttering), phonological processing (i.e., a student’s perception of speech sounds and ability to manipulate them to speak, read, and spell), language (e.g., a student’s expressive and receptive vocabulary and grammar), use of AAC (e.g., speech-generating devices for students who have difficulty communicating verbally), and more.

Additionally, I recently completed a bilingual extension program in order to work with students who communicate in more than one language.

When did you start working at HCSD?
This is my first year.

What do you like most about your job?
The best part of my job is working with my wonderful students and colleagues!

What is your education background?
I double-majored in French and Biology at Vassar College and then earned an M.S.Ed. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The College of Saint Rose.

What is your background like – previous jobs?
I worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for Early Intervention and at a private agency. I also taught French in Massachusetts, English in France, and both English and French in Spain.

Tell us a bit about your life outside of school.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, cooking, watching French and Spanish television series, and traveling.
