Mr. James Boyle is the new Head of Maintenance & Facilities. He’s in charge of all things related to buildings and grounds, including maintenance, cleaning and grounds keeping. He’s been working closely with George Keeler, current Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds, who is heading into retirement.
Here are a few things to help you get to know James:
What is your role here at the Hudson City School District, and where do you work?
I have taken over as Head of Maintenance and Facilities and will be overseeing all things related to buildings and grounds. My office is in the high school.
When did you start working at HCSD?
I began working here in the beginning of August 2019.
What does your job entail? What are your job responsibilities/priorities?
I am responsible for all aspects of maintenance, cleaning and grounds keeping crews and much more.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the challenge of leading people.
What is your background like – education, previous jobs?
As a kid I grew up on a local dairy farm. It was my first type of employment. After high school, I joined the United States Navy. I was an Aviation Electrician on various types of Naval aircraft. Most of my experience was on Fighters, F/A-18s mostly. After 14 years of Naval service I came home to Columbia County. I was employed as the maintenance supervisor for a local company for a few years. I also joined the N.Y. State Air National Guard, where I perform my military duties as an Air Force Security Forces member (Military Cop).
Tell us a bit about your life outside of school.
I enjoy bowling. Anyone else’s average above 210? My team has a spot. I also hunt and fish.
What is the best advice anyone has given you?
Nothing is free, you got to earn it.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
There is no failure. Only lessons.
