ABOUT

This year we will be celebrating the 20th annual Lights On Afterschool! Our theme this year will focus on social and emotional learning, and how our programs allow students to connect with positive adult mentors, feel safe to try new things and have opportunities to learn new skills.

In addition to highlighting HBN ASP programs, this event allows us to shine a spotlight on many of our valuable community partners: Hudson Area Library, Hudson Hall, Columbia County Department of Health, Columbia Opportunities (Hudson Family Literacy), Catholic Charities, Clermont State Historic Site, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, Hawthorne Valley Farm Place-Based Learning Center, Katchkie Farm/Sylvia Center, NYS Firemen’s Home, NYS Firemen’s Museum, and Perfect Ten.

Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important roles in the lives of children, families and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year.
