Following the approval of our capital improvement project in 2016, which included the consolidation of elementary grades (PK-5) into one building at M.C. Smith Elementary School, the Board of Education adopted a resolution to close the former John L. Edwards Primary School.

The District is now preparing to put the JLE building (located at 360 State St, Hudson) on the market for interested buyers. CBRE will be assisting with real estate services.

Once an appropriate offer is accepted, voter authorization will be required in order to sell the building (similar to the sale of the Claverack School in 2016). Any revenue received will be applied to existing debt service. To avoid additional costs associated with holding public votes, the District plans to include the sale of the JLE building on the May 19, 2020 referendum.
